My Tommy Boy

It's been a little while since I've done an update on Tommy, so I need to write some things down before I forget how absolutely adorable he was at this age. He is just under 1 1/2 and is learning new things every day.
Some things that Tommy likes:
  • He LOVES "gig cah" or big cars, and watches an assortment of tractor and monster truck videos on youtube multiples times each day. We have taken to hiding the computers because if Tommy sees one, he'll yell "gig cah!!" until he gets to watch one of his youtube videos. This is especially difficult when Daddy is working on homework.
  • When we are driving in the car he yells "gig cah!!" the whole time, pointing to cars along the road. He won't stop yelling until you acknowledge that there is a big car and that it is so cool.
  • Tommy loves reading books, especially those that have animals in them so that he can say the noises they make. Tommy only knows animals by their noises, not their names, but someday he'll probably figure it out.
  • He loves giving kisses and will most likely give you one if you ask. He smacks his lips to indicate that he wants a kiss, and then proceeds to point at everyone who he wants to give a kiss. When it is just Ryan and I he goes back and forth until we each get 3-5 kisses. And, his kisses are typically drooly and open-mouthed.
  • Tommy loves it when his milk is in a bottle, not a sippy cup. He'll drink 2x as much if it's in a bottle.
  • He has a major fascination with pulling things behind him. He usually drags two different things behind him and walks around and around the house, sometimes for up to 30 minutes before he gets bored.
  • Tommy loves his "bah bee" or baby, the glow worm that Grandma Lorsch got him for his first birthday. He loves to hold it tight while he falls asleep and walks around the house with it while holding its ear.
  • He likes pineapples which sounds like "bawpum-apple", but swallows them whole which makes for some interesting poopy diapers. Same goes for raisins, which swell to a surprisingly large size by the time he "disposes" of them.
  • Tommy loves swimming and will usually walk along the steps splashing like a mad man. He is fearless with the water and will walk of the edge without any warning, always accompanied with a huge smile on his face.
  • This little boy has a sweet tooth, but a specific sweet tooth. He really only likes gummy candies, like starbursts, licorice, and gummy worms, etc.
  • Tommy loves to go "bye!!!" (he usually yells everything he says) and walks up to the garage door while yelling it at all times of the day. Our house must be pretty boring!
  • He LOVES being tickled, chased, and thrown around. Once daddy gets home, Tommy knows it is play time. Daddy loves to make roaring noises and chase Tommy around the house. Tommy runs while giggling like crazy until he just can't take it anymore and collapses on the floor squealing his head off. Daddy also does "buckin' bronco" which is when Tommy sits on Daddy's pelvis and then Daddy bucks around like a bronco. Tommy laughs so hard until he can't breathe whenever they play that game.
  • Tommy loves his Papa right now, Grandpa Lorsch. He yells "PAPA!!!" the whole way to his house and loves to cuddle up with his Grandpa. It really is adorable.
  • He has exceptional hearing and if he hears, no matter how faint, a dog barking, Tommy will start to yell "woo woo woo" with all the gusto he can summon. At times, he hears a child at church and thinks it is a doggy noise, so then he starts noisily barking at church until we can quiet him down. This is also something that we have to acknowledge before he will stop barking. Otherwise he would just...never stop.
  • At least a couple times a week Tommy will surprise us and tell us that he is ready to go night night. He'll come up to us and lay his head on our lap and say "nigh nee". He usually goes to bed really well. We just rock him for thirty seconds or so, kiss him and say nigh nee, and he goes to bed!

Tommy's Owie

Also, Tommy had a sad incident this summer. We were playing outside and running through the sprinklers. I was moving the playground onto the grass and wasn't watching Tommy. He followed me, but walked on the pavers that must have been over 100 degrees. He started screaming, so I looked and picked him up. His feet were all burned and he had a blister on each foot. We wrapped gauze around his feet which lasted all of 5 minutes until he started pulling it off. It was very sad for Mommy and Tommy, but within three days he was running around again!
Words cannot express how much I love this little boy. He is our pride and joy and brings us more happiness then I ever thought possible. We are so thankful for this little boy and the laughter he always brings to our home.

WOW. That is quite a list. Carson probably only says 10 things. Audrey was such a talker at this age so I have to remind myself constantly that all kids are different.

Dillon also chases Carson around making monster noises, so now Carson runs back and forth down the hall going "RRRROOOOOOAAAARRR!" all day. Pretty hilarious.

Such a cute little boy, Katie!
